A Bible In Prison Brings Deliverance

“You are under arrest!” Twenty-two-year-old Rahul’s* heart pounded in shock as the police officers’ words rang through his front door. Although they pleaded that he was innocent of the murder charges, their pleas went unheeded. Rahul was forced into prison. In agony he thought, I will spend the rest of my life in this jail.

Discouraged, Rahul’s mother shared her son’s painful story with a local pastor. The pastor prayed for him and suggested she give a Bible to her son.

In prison, Rahul began to read the Bible his mother gave him. The Lord spoke to him as he read and prayed daily, and he wept before God with a broken heart.

After Rahul spent seven months behind bars, the Lord worked a miracle and he was released. Rahul was changed by the grace of God he had experienced in prison, and he committed to live the rest of his life for the Lord. God allowed a false accusation to bring Rahul to a place of surrender to Him.

Pray that Rahul’s family and others in their village would experience God’s love and also turn to the Lord.

The gift of Bibles and Christian literature

Bibles and Christian literature distribution in South Sudan

The heart of CAM’s mission is to get this eternal gift, God’s Word, into as many hands as possible. Your generosity helped provide more than 4 million Bibles and New Testaments in 2022. In 2023, we hope to again respond to some of the requests for large amounts of Bibles and New Testaments. We also supply inspirational books and Bible courses to provide Biblical teaching, and distribute Bible story books to bring an awareness of God to children and adults. The following quotes give a glimpse into the far-reaching effects of Bibles and Christian literature.

Restricted country: “Many years ago, I read one page of the New Testament that I found among some torn pages in a shop. I kept reading that page which really affected me . . . I tried many times to find a complete New Testament and asked many people, but no one knew where I could find one.”

Malawi: “I had around 25 children around me. . . . I was telling them . . . stories from the 101 Bible story book and they had huge eyes and listened for hours!”

God’s Word for Russia

work in Russia, Christian Aid Ministries

Several groups of believers in Russia carry a burden to tell people about Jesus. They speak to people in remote villages and sing on busy city streets. After CAM provided New Testaments and Christian literature, one group shared, “Now we will not evangelize with empty hands.”

Church leaders tell how Christ’s power is changing lives. “In our services, there are always 20 to 25 homeless people, former drunkards, and drug addicts,” says a pastor. “Many of them take their first step when reading the Gospel of John booklet…”

Over the past few years, God’s blessing and help from our supporters have enabled us to support this work in Russia with New Testaments, Gospel of John booklets, and Bible story books. This year, we plan to provide 50,000 New Testaments and 50,000 n booklets. Thank you for your support!

The Holy Bible: Alive, powerful, and life-changing

The Holy Bible, Christian Aid Ministries

The Holy Bible—alive and powerful—is changing lives all over the world. In recent meetings with Bible distribution contacts, this was quite apparent. They shared stories of God working in miraculous ways to get His Word into the hands of anxiously waiting people. In many countries, there is a huge, ongoing hunger for Bibles and New Testaments as people seem to grow in their yearning to learn about Jesus.

Unbelievers wonder, “Why are people willing to spend so much time and effort to distribute  a book?”

The response from Bible distributors is simple: “The love of God reached me through His Word. I must spread this good news to others.”

Please pray for:

  • Guidance and strength for those who send and distribute Bibles.
  • That God would encourage believers and draw unbelievers to Himself through Bibles and New Testaments.
  • Wisdom as we try to discern how to best respond to Bible requests.

Recently, when a box of Bibles arrived at the home of a Bible distributor, he carefully opened the box. As he pulled out the Bibles, he prayed, “May these Bibles reach the people who are to receive them. . . . Thank you, God, for these books!”

He tenderly lifted more Bibles from the box, kissing them while he beamed with joy, overwhelmed by the precious contents. “This Book has saved my life and helped me stand up for my faith. Praise God.”

He then told the man who had sent the Bibles, “Thank you, my brother. You have packed this beautifully . . . Praise God for the calling He has placed on your life. I love you. May God bless you and all the people who are in this with us.”

This distributor’s prayer was for you—the generous supporters who stand with believers by helping to provide God’s precious Word.

Over the years, CAM has been privileged to help provide Bibles in various locations. Many of the Bibles go to believers who have never had a Bible of their own. Some have prayed for many years that God would make a way to provide a Bible for them.

Lord willing, 2023 will provide more opportunities to distribute Bibles and New Testaments around the world. Many millions of Bibles could be used. The need truly seems endless! If you wish to support this ongoing work through financial contributions or prayer, your support will be greatly appreciated. We estimate that the Bibles provided in the next year will cost an average of $4.50 each.

“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I
sent it” (Isaiah 55:11).

Bringing the truth to the Njemps

Njemps, Christian Aid Minstries

The Njemps live on a remote island in Kenya. They retreated to this island, an extinct volcano, after fierce fighting erupted between them and another tribe in 2007.

These patriarchal people depend largely on fish for food, since their island’s rocky soil makes it difficult to raise crops for animals. But their supply of fish is diminishing, creating a rising hunger problem. Some days, they must limit food portions to one small fish per person.

The Njemp people are largely isolated from the world beyond their island. Literacy among them is low. A school operates on the island, but it lacks sufficient books and resources. Few people are willing to come from the mainland to teach their children.

Last year, CAM staff members traveled on a boat to the Njemps’ island to share the Good News by distributing Bibles and Bible story books. For decades, the Njemps lacked exposure to the Gospel, but our staff reported that God’s truth is slowly reaching their hearts. A group of people meets for church services and plans to build a church house on the island someday.

The Bibles and Bible story books our staff distributed were eagerly welcomed. The vivid pictures in the full-color storybooks help tell the story to those unable to read. Please pray that these resources will help guide the Njemps as they search for truth.

A village hungry for the Word

hungry for the Word, Christian Aid Ministries

Picnicess is a beautiful village on Liberia’s coast. But behind its beauty lies spiritual darkness. Picnicess is known for satanic worship, human sacrifices, ritualistic killings, and mysterious disappearances. Traditional beliefs have engulfed the only church in the village. Many people live in fear.

CAM staff traveled to Picnicess to hold a service and distribute Christian literature. A staff member wrote, “I can’t get this scene out of my mind. The church was packed with people. Some even stood outside looking through the windows.”

The villagers’ hunger for the Word spilled out as they eagerly reached for Bibles and asked questions about changing their occultic practices. Since then, several groups of people in Picnicess are meeting to study the Bible and literature they received. Pray that God’s Word would penetrate the village’s spiritual darkness!

Incredible demand for the Scriptures

demand for the Scriptures, Christian Aid Ministries

Our contacts around the world report an ever-increasing demand for Scriptures. Millions of people search desperately for hope and peace. Countless believers wait years, or even a lifetime, for their own copy of God’s Word. In one restricted country a Bible distributor shares, “Demand for the Scriptures is really incredible at this moment.”

The goal of the Bibles-for-the-World program is to point men, women, and children to Christ, and to ground new believers in the truth. Through your support, Bibles, New Testaments, Bible story books, and other materials proclaim God’s Word to millions of people each year.

Providing Bibles for the World

Providing Bibles, Christian Aid Ministries

One of CAM’s main goals is to share the Gospel in a world filled with confusion. Providing Bibles is one important way we seek to point people to Christ. The demand for Bibles is huge! Many believers anxiously wait for their first copy of God’s Word.

“I know of only four Christian bookstores in the country . . . Churches and schools are using the Bible story books for everything—Bibles, discipleship material, English textbooks, Christian religion textbooks.”

“I want others to have a Bible so they, too, can find out about Jesus and experience the peace and forgiveness I have found!”

“There is very little other input of Christian material in the country at all. People don’t have money for anything beyond survival.”

Our Bibles-for-the-World program also helps present the Gospel through New Testaments,  Bible story books, sound doctrinal books, and Bible correspondence courses. These materials introduce people to the Gospel or help them grow in their walk with the Lord.
