Life-saving nutrition for a Liberian baby

Inside a cocoon of blankets lay the tiniest Liberian baby one of our staff members had ever held. At three weeks old, little Mercy scarcely tipped the scale over three and a half pounds. Her entire body easily fit onto an 8.5 x 11 inch sheet of paper.

Mercy’s fight for life started from birth. She was born prematurely, and then her young mother developed an infection. Mercy’s grandma tried to help care for Mercy, but with the high price of formula in Liberia, she struggled to keep the child alive.

The Save-A-Life program enabled CAM staff to provide baby formula for Mercy as she clung to life. They are grateful for a supply of infant formula on hand for cases like Mercy’s. One staff member shared, “It is always encouraging to watch a weak, sickly baby become healthy and strong. Thank you for enabling us to extend God’s mercy to the small Liberian babies of!”
